Tinsel is a funny, magical and empowering Yuletide adventure for readers aged 8+, which is served with a satisfying side dish of friendship – think Christmas meets girl power. With a great cast of female characters, along with some ‘grinchy’ villains and a talking fir tree that reminds me of Olaf, this is very different to other seasonal stories out there, and Blanche and Rinki’s relationship will warm the cockles of your heart (I have named them Festive and Mince Pie Spice respectively, because you clearly can’t talk about girl power without mention of the Spice Girls…). It’s a joyful, sparkling read – full to the brim with (kick-ass) Christmas spirit – that will bring a smile to your face. Zig-a-zig-ahh… ???
